Paint Protection Film (PPF) Warranty & Care Policy

At RIKECOOL, we offer professional installation of RIKESHIELD™ and XPEL Paint Protection Films (PPF) to help protect your vehicle’s appearance and finish.

RIKESHIELD™ is our automotive film brand, offering paint protection solutions designed for everyday driving conditions. All RIKESHIELD PPF products purchased with installation through this website are professionally installed and supported by RIKECOOL.

This policy explains the warranty coverage for RIKESHIELD and XPEL PPF, including installation workmanship, eligible film defects, care recommendations and warranty claims.

1. Warranty Coverage at a Glance

For eligible XPEL and RIKESHIELD Paint Protection Film (PPF) installed by RIKECOOL, the following warranty coverage applies:

All warranty periods begin from the original installation date.

The 2-year workmanship warranty and the limited product warranty are separate. Product coverage of up to five years does not extend the workmanship warranty beyond two years.

2. Installation Workmanship Warranty — 2 Years

RIKECOOL provides a 2-year warranty covering defects arising directly from the original PPF installation.

What is covered:

1. Film lifting or peeling at the edges due to improper installation.
2. Bubbling or blistering caused by installation defects.
3. Other installation-related workmanship defects confirmed following inspection.

What is not covered:

1. Damage caused by accidents, stone chips, scratches or external impact.
2. Improper washing, cleaning or maintenance.
3. Damage caused by chemicals, abrasive products or pressure washing.
4. Film damage resulting from third-party repairs, modifications or removal.
5. Normal wear and tear or deterioration unrelated to installation workmanship.
6. Pre-existing paint defects, surface damage or unsuitable underlying surfaces not caused by RIKECOOL.

Coverage applies only where the issue is confirmed to have resulted from the original installation.

3. RIKESHIELD™ & XPEL Limited Product Warranty — Up to 5 Years

RIKECOOL provides limited product warranty coverage of up to five years for eligible XPEL and RIKESHIELD exterior PPF installed by RIKECOOL.

This covers qualifying premature defects in the film material arising under normal usage conditions.

What may be covered:

• Abnormal or premature yellowing or discolouration.
• Premature cracking or material failure.
• Blistering or bubbling caused by a film manufacturing defect.
• Delamination or separation of film layers caused by material defects.

What is not covered:

• Normal ageing, gradual discolouration or deterioration consistent with the film’s age, usage and exposure.
• Damage caused by accidents, road debris, scratches, impacts or other external forces.
• Staining, surface damage or chemical deterioration caused by contaminants, unsuitable cleaning products or improper maintenance.
• Damage resulting from improper use, modification or third-party repairs.
• Deterioration caused by external conditions where no qualifying product defect is established.

Warranty eligibility will be assessed based on the nature and cause of the defect, the condition of the film, installation records, maintenance and vehicle usage.

A visible change in the film’s appearance does not automatically constitute a manufacturing defect. Equally, a claim will not be rejected solely because the film has been exposed to Singapore’s climate.

Where a qualifying defect is confirmed within the applicable warranty period, RIKECOOL will arrange the appropriate remedy in accordance with this policy and applicable law.

4. XPEL Manufacturer Warranty

Certain XPEL PPF products may carry a separate manufacturer’s limited warranty.

The availability, coverage period, exclusions, registration requirements and claim approval process depend on the specific XPEL product and the manufacturer’s applicable warranty terms.

Any eligible manufacturer’s warranty is separate from RIKECOOL’s own workmanship and limited product warranties.

Customers seeking coverage under an XPEL manufacturer warranty may contact RIKECOOL for assistance with the applicable claim process.

Approval and remedies under the manufacturer’s warranty remain subject to XPEL’s applicable terms and requirements.

5. Interior Paint Protection Film Warranty — 2 Years

RIKECOOL provides a 2-year installation workmanship warranty for eligible interior PPF applications, including:

• Touchscreen protectors.
• Centre consoles.
• Dashboard trims.
• Other interior surfaces protected with PPF.

What is covered:

• Lifting or peeling caused by installation defects.
• Installation-related bubbling.
• Other workmanship defects confirmed following inspection.

What is not covered:

• Scratches, cuts, dents and damage caused by sharp objects.
• Damage caused by accessories, chemicals, cleaning products or excessive force.
• Normal wear and tear from regular contact and usage.
• Pre-existing surface defects or damage to the original interior material not caused by RIKECOOL.
• Changes in appearance resulting from normal ageing or usage.

Any separate product warranty for interior PPF applies only where expressly stated in the relevant product description or warranty documentation.

6. RIKESHIELD™ Paint Protection Film

Eligible RIKESHIELD Self-Healing Paint Protection Film installed by RIKECOOL includes:

• 2-Year Installation Workmanship Warranty: Covers qualifying installation defects, including lifting, peeling and installation-related bubbling.
• Up to 5-Year Limited Product Warranty: Covers qualifying premature material defects, including abnormal yellowing, cracking, blistering and delamination.

RIKESHIELD’s self-healing technology is designed to help minor surface marks diminish under suitable conditions. This feature does not prevent deep scratches, stone chips, cuts or other physical damage.

All warranty claims are subject to the applicable exclusions, inspection and verification procedures set out in this policy.

7. Singapore Climate & PPF Lifespan Advisory

Singapore’s year-round heat, humidity, UV exposure and environmental conditions can affect the appearance, performance and lifespan of Paint Protection Film.

Over time, PPF may experience natural changes such as:

• Reduced gloss or surface clarity.
• Gradual discolouration.
• Hardening or loss of flexibility.
• Adhesive ageing.
• Surface deterioration or cracking.

The rate of deterioration depends on the film’s formulation, exposure, maintenance, vehicle usage and parking conditions.

Our recommendation:

• From Year 3: Begin monitoring the film more closely for signs of ageing or deterioration.
• Years 4–5: Arrange an inspection and consider replacement where appropriate, depending on the film’s condition.
• At any time: Seek professional advice if the film becomes brittle, severely discoloured, cracked or difficult to maintain.

Prolonged use of aged or deteriorated PPF may cause its adhesive to harden, making removal more difficult and potentially increasing the risk of damage to underlying surfaces.

PPF replacement is not automatically required at the third or fifth year. The decision should be based on the actual condition of the film.

These recommendations are preventive maintenance guidance and do not shorten or replace any applicable warranty coverage.

8. PPF Care & Maintenance Guidelines

Proper care helps maintain your PPF’s appearance and performance.

After installation

• Wait at least 48 hours before washing your vehicle, unless advised otherwise by RIKECOOL.
• Avoid touching, pressing or lifting the film edges.
• Allow the film to settle and cure. Minor moisture patterns or haziness may be visible initially and can diminish during curing.

Regular cleaning

• Wash your vehicle regularly using a mild, pH-neutral automotive shampoo.
• Use a clean, soft microfibre cloth or suitable washing mitt.
• Remove bird droppings, insect residue, tree sap and other contaminants promptly.
• Avoid abrasive cleaning tools, harsh chemicals and unsuitable polishing products.

Pressure washing

• Avoid directing high-pressure water jets at the edges or seams of the film.
• Do not hold pressure-washing equipment too close to the film surface.
• Follow the equipment manufacturer’s recommended pressure and distance settings.

Stubborn stains and contaminants

• Use cleaning products specifically suitable for PPF.
• Avoid strong solvents or concentrated alcohol unless their use is expressly approved for the particular film.
• Consult RIKECOOL before attempting aggressive stain removal or chemical treatment.

Self-healing properties

Certain PPF products feature self-healing technology that allows minor surface marks to diminish when exposed to suitable warmth.

Self-healing performance varies by product and does not apply to deep scratches, cuts, punctures or damage extending through the film.

Do not apply excessive heat or boiling water to the film.

9. Warranty Claims & Inspection

If you encounter a potential warranty issue during the applicable warranty period, please contact RIKECOOL to arrange an inspection.

How to make a claim:

1. Contact RIKECOOL with your vehicle details and a description of the issue.
2. Provide proof of purchase or installation details, where available.
3. Share photographs of the affected area to assist with the initial assessment.
4. Arrange a physical inspection if required.

RIKECOOL will assess the film’s condition and the likely cause of the issue to determine whether the claim falls within the applicable warranty.

Where a valid claim is confirmed, RIKECOOL will arrange an appropriate repair, rectification or replacement of the affected area, as applicable.

The remedy will depend on the nature of the defect, the condition of the film and the applicable warranty terms.

Customers should contact RIKECOOL before arranging third-party repairs to a suspected warranty defect, where reasonably practicable, so that the issue can be properly assessed.

10. General Warranty Conditions

The following conditions apply to RIKECOOL’s installation workmanship and limited PPF product warranties:

1. Coverage begins on the original installation date.
2. Coverage applies to eligible products originally installed by RIKECOOL.
3. Coverage is limited to the original vehicle and original installation.
4. RIKECOOL’s voluntary warranties are non-transferable unless agreed otherwise in writing.
5. Warranty eligibility depends on the identified cause of the issue and the applicable coverage terms.
6. Any replacement or rectification under warranty does not automatically restart the original warranty period.
7. Product or workmanship issues caused by external damage or factors unrelated to a covered defect are excluded.
8. Any warranty provided separately by the product manufacturer remains subject to the manufacturer’s own terms.

Nothing in this policy excludes or restricts any rights or remedies that customers may have under applicable Singapore law, including the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act.
